Oregon’s governing body for high school sports has sanctioned girls flag football.
The first varsity season will be this spring; the Oregon School Activities Association said it had 1.4K athletes playing on 57 teams last spring.
Nike will provide home and away jerseys to all teams next season, plus to any schools who launch programs in the next three years, according to KATU-TV.
Oregon is the 25th state to sanction girls flag; Washington D.C. has also sanctioned the sport.
Quick Take: Indiana is up next; it has a sanctioning vote scheduled for next year. Missouri is likely the closest after that. And don’t forget to bookmark our girls flag sanctioning tracker.
