Fastbreak AI has further bolstered its emerging travel business with a pair of housing firm acquisitions.
The sports operations firm has bought Competition Travel and Groupbook and will fold them into Fastbreak Travel.
Competition Travel focuses on cheer and dance competitions, managing everything from lodging to practice facilities to logistics and travel experiences for over 500 events each year.
Groupbook specializes in club and team travel solutions for youth sports club administrators, coaches and team managers. It has over 2.5K clubs and tournament organizers and over 30K hotels in its network.
"Sports travel has been fragmented for a long time. Different companies for different customer types, different agencies for different sports, and families and organizations left to piece it all together on their own. That's changing.
“Fastbreak Travel now serves tournaments and clubs with purpose-built offerings across every event category, meeting customers where they are, from an NGB running national championships to a club coach booking a single weekend. Doug and Susan are exactly the leaders to help us grow this business and make travel more affordable for every family in sports." — Fastbreak co-founder and CEO John Stewart
Competition Travel founder Susan Tucker will become Fastbreak’s VP of concierge travel and helm Fastbreak Travel expansion.
Groupbook founder and CEO Doug Freeman will join Fastbreak as a general manager, overseeing a new club travel offering.
The acquisitions come five months after Fastbreak acquired GroupHousing in late April. Stewart previously told Buying Sandlot the company was aiming to have 1M hotel nights on its platform by the end of next year; it was at about 450K after the GroupHousing pickup.
Fastbreak Travel is integrated into Fastbreak’s broader platform and is also available as a standalone service for event operators, national governing bodies and clubs.
